Cheerleading

Our cheerleading classes teach the basics of cheerleading through structured and enjoyable classes. We focus on motions, jumps, tumbling, and logistics to build strength, endurance, and flexibility. Our skilled coaches lead all classes and provide a foundation for further cheerleading opportunities.

Youth Basketball

Youth basketball is designed to teach basic basketball skills to newcomers and refine skills for returning players. The focus will be on ball control, shooting techniques, offensive and defensive tactics, rules and regulations of the game, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Instructional Basketball

This instructional class focuses on the basic skills of dribbling, shooting, and passing for the sport of basketball while working with a YMCA instructor and other children in a structured class setting.

Volleyball

Instructional league focuses on the basic skills of bumping, setting, and spiking for the sport of volleyball while working with volunteer coaches and teammates in a structured league setting. This league provides a foundation for growth and the opportunity to further the enjoyment of volleyball.

Soccer

Youth soccer is designed to teach soccer skills to children who have never played the game and improve the skills of those who have. The focus will be on ball control, rules and regulations of the game, teamwork, sportsmanship, and fair play for all. The YMCA’s core values will be emphasized throughout the season.

Karate

Learn ways to bend, move, kick and punch while toning muscles. Karate teaches self-defense, builds self-confidence and participants learn discipline, respect, responsibility, and better concentration.

Dance

Dance classes at the YMCA offer a non-competition setting for children to learn and engage in the benefits of a high-quality dance program. The recreational dance program focuses on teaching rhythm and creative movement as well as developing Ballet and Tap techniques.

Homeschool PE

Learn physical fitness and health in a fun environment while promoting positive peer relationships and building self-esteem.  This is a great way for your children to socialize in a group setting with other kids their age.

Because …  playing sports builds character.

Sports can be a positive experience for your child’s mind as well as his or her body. Many positive aspects of psychological growth can result from sports participation including higher self-esteem, social skills, discipline, and respect for others. As with all YMCA programs the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility are stressed through all our sports programs.
