Because …  playing sports builds character.

Sports can be a positive experience for your child’s mind as well as his or her body. Many positive aspects of psychological growth can result from sports participation including higher self-esteem, social skills, discipline, and respect for others. As with all YMCA programs the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility are stressed through all our sports programs.

Soccer

Youth soccer is designed to teach soccer skills to children who have never played the game and improve the skills of those who have. The focus will be on ball control, rules and regulations of the game, teamwork, sportsmanship, and fair play for all. The YMCA’s core values will be emphasized throughout the season.

Karate

Learn ways to bend, move, kick and punch while toning muscles. Karate teaches self-defense, builds self-confidence and participants learn discipline, respect, responsibility, and better concentration.

Youth Basketball

Youth Basketball is designed to teach the basic skills of basketball to newcomers and refine skills for returning players. The focus will be on ball control, shooting techniques, offensive and defensive tactics, rules and regulations of the game, teamwork, sportsmanship, and fair play for all.

Volleyball

Trained coaches introduce the basic skills and rules of volleyball. Some of the fundamentals included are overhead passing, bump setting, and serving techniques. Good sportsmanship and character development are emphasized.

Learn physical fitness and health in a fun environment while promoting positive relationships with peers and building self-esteem.  This is a great way for your children to socialize in a group setting with other kids their age.
