  • Mathews Family YMCA
  • Middlesex Family YMCA
  • Greater West Point Family YMCA
  • Luter Family YMCA

We are working through a process of evaluating how our buildings are designed, and how they can best accommodate 24-hour access. It will take time to evaluate and determine the best course of action.

The rollout will happen in phases for five YMCAs in 2025. The first locations, Mathews and Middlesex Family YMCAs, will have 24-hour access starting June 2, 2025. Beginning on June 16, our Greater West Point, R.F. Wilkinson, and Luter Family YMCA centers will also have 24-hour Access. As we evaluate the program, we will expand to other centers in 2026 and will communicate as we get closer to that time.

All active YMCA of the Virginia Peninsulas members who are 18 years or older have access at no additional cost. Nationwide members and guests will not have access.

Members will scan their membership key tag at an external scanner to gain entry.

Regular cleaning schedules will remain in place, and members are encouraged to clean equipment before and after use.

Members are encouraged to exercise with another YMCA member of the Virginia Peninsula who is 18 years and older. Members who choose to exercise without a partner understand and assume that risk. Members will have access to a phone system at the Welcome Center and can dial for emergency help or leave a non-emergency message for Y staff to follow up with the next day.

No. Members who are enrolled in 3rd party payors like Silver Sneakers and Renew Active will not have the ability to enroll in 24-hour access. These members must upgrade their membership to a YVP membership type to gain access.
