We are excited to announce our upcoming Community Water Safety Day sponsored by Harper & Company on June 8 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. This important event will take place at four locations throughout our YMCA service areas and is open to everyone in the community.

What is Community Water Safety Day?

Community Water Safety Day is an initiative to educate our community about the importance of water safety. Drowning is one of the leading causes of accidental death, especially among children, and many of these tragedies can be prevented with proper knowledge and skills. At the YMCA, we believe in the power of education to save lives, and we want to extend this crucial knowledge beyond our members to everyone in the community.

What to Expect

Our event will include a variety of informative and interactive activities designed to teach participants about water safety, including:

  • Water Safety Demonstrations: Learn basic water rescue techniques and safety tips for different water environments.
  • CPR and First Aid Tips: Get a brief overview of life-saving techniques from our trained staff.
  • Interactive Sessions for Kids: Fun and educational activities to help children understand the importance of water safety in a playful and engaging way.
  • Resource Booths: Pick up brochures and other materials to take home and continue learning about water safety.
