We Prevent Drowning
Josiah arrived at Middlesex Family YMCA summer camp determined to stay out of the pool; it seemed too cold, too deep, and too overwhelming. But with gentle encouragement from his older brother Joey, a returning camper, Josiah began to explore the water step by step. From dipping his toes to walking along the pool’s edge, his confidence steadily grew. By week six, Josiah made a joyful leap, his very first cannonball, cheered on by Joey and grinning from ear to ear. His journey from hesitation to triumph captured the spirit of support, growth, and courage that defines the Y experience.
We Help Kids Succeed
When Ayden arrived at Middlesex Family YMCA summer camp, he was a quiet boy who rarely spoke. But as the days unfolded, his fascination with nature began to bloom. Ayden’s gentle curiosity led him to explore bugs and butterflies, and by the end of summer camp, he was confidently sharing his discoveries with fellow campers. The boy who once whispered had found his voice through nature, transforming his summer into a journey of growth, confidence, and connection.
We Prepare Teens for Life
Compass Academy is shaping the future by equipping teens with the confidence, leadership, and life skills they need beyond the classroom. Through a long-standing partnership with the Middlesex Family YMCA, students engage in hands-on learning, from work projects to fitness and team-building activities, that foster responsibility, collaboration, and personal growth. Together, Compass Academy and the YMCA are helping young people become capable, confident adults ready to thrive in the real world.
We Help People Grow Healthier in Spirit, Mind, and Body
Ginette joined the YMCA in 2021 after retiring, determined to prioritize her health after years of caring for others. Starting with treadmill workouts, she gradually began to embrace group exercise classes, such as Dance Fit and YES, and participated in the Y’s Weight Loss and strength programs. In 2024, Ginette faced a breast cancer diagnosis and underwent surgery and radiation, which sidelined her fitness routine for nine months. Feeling discouraged, she found hope through the LIVESTRONG program at the Middlesex Family YMCA, which reignited her motivation. With support from YMCA staff and her personal trainer, Jay, Ginette has lost 50 pounds, regained her strength, and even completed her first plank at age 64. She’s back to enjoying her favorite classes and is committed to a healthier lifestyle, grateful for the Y’s role in her transformation.
